Hilary Morgan

accompanist

is a Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music, gaining a diploma in Piano Accompaniment, whose professional engagements with soloists and opera groups have taken her to Southern Ireland, the USA, Normandy, Brittany, North East France, the Channel Islands and throughout the UK.

For 10 years she was on the Administrative staff of Trinity College of Music, and was also a college accompanist for master-classes, auditions and examinations. In 1985 she co-founded The New Savoyards of London and remained with them until 2003, with appearances at major UK theatres, including Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room and Barbican Centre.

Current commitments are as repetiteur/accompanist for the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival at Buxton, and as resident accompanist for performances by Grim’s Dyke Opera, Five’s Company, Savoy to Broadway, Dear Jessie, Fires of Straw and – with the contralto Jill Pert – In the Dusk with the Light Behind Them.

During her career she has accompanied principals from the main Opera Houses in the UK including Valerie Masterson, Gillian Knight, Nick Sales, Kenneth Francis, Philip Potter, Thomas Round , Jean Hindmarsh, and Bruce Graham.  She has worked with conductors: David Steadman, Richard Balcombe, Wyn Davies, Fraser Goulding, David Mackie, John Owen Edwards, Dr David Russell Hulme.

She is in demand nationally as accompanist for Opera and Lieder recitals, illustrated talks and one-man shows. She is also rehearsal accompanist for The Carl Rosa Company. Under the title of “The Celtic Duo”, Hilary gives piano duet concerts with the conductor/accompanist David Mackie.
